Southwest Human Resource Agency LIHEAP Program

The LIHEAP Program offers assistance with utility bills to eligible families. The applicant’s total household income must be at or below 60% of the State Median Income. If approved for assistance, a one-time payment is made to the designated utility account. Assistance may only be provided once during the fiscal year. This project is funded under a grant contract with the State of Tennessee. There are two components of the program: Regular and Crisis Assistance. Regular Applications are accepted year round, Monday-Thursday. Applicants are notified of their eligibility status within 30 days. If funds are not available, applicants may be placed on a waiting list and assistance may be provided at a later date. Crisis Assistance is available to eligible families in danger of disconnection of utilities and service is provided in a fast track manner.
