Student Voice

THEI's Student Voice portfolio empowers directly impacted students and alumni to actively participate in shaping their educational experience. By amplifying these perspectives and experiences, Student Voice intends to disrupt the harmful systems that marginalize these individuals creating pathways for autonomy and success. Our purpose is to foster meaningful participation and leadership opportunities which have a direct impact in shaping policies and practices that affect the success of the higher education in prison field.

Student and Graduate Advisory Councils

Our Student Council serves as the primary platform for current students at our program sites to collectively voice their concerns, priorities, and ideas.  The Council empowers members to influence systemic change and advance THEI’s mission of autonomy and success.

The THEI Graduate Advisory Council serves to leverage the experiences and insights of currently incarcerated graduates to guide and inform not only THEI’s policies and practices but also the higher education in prison field on the state, regional, and national levels.

Alumni Speakers Bureau

Quarterly Alumni Events

Our Quarterly Alumni Events provide a safe and empowering space for alumni to network, share experiences, celebrate achievements, and access resources for personal and professional growth. These spaces serve to facilitate collective advocacy and community building; reinforcing a sense of belonging and solidarity.

"THEI's Student Voice gives us the confidence and platform to make our voices heard and inspire our fellow students who come after us to do the same."
- Joshua Stoltz, THEI Alumnus
